Zicka visiting: Dublin, pubs and sights

Yeah. Zicka was visiting me the previous weekend from Fri through Mon. So, right after I finished work I introduced the dockland area and our latest feature: The Point Village’s Big wheel. Nice to look at but ridiculously priced: For a single ride they charge 9 EUR. But wait, why not take a VIP Capsule and spend 75 EUR. Or even better: Get some champagne with it for 95 EUR. Ludicrous! But let me stop here…

Next we quickly dropped her stuff at my place and headed over to the Grand Canal Docks; more precisely the Ferryman pub. The evening’s itinerary took us to the Gingerman and eventually Bruxelles. One pint led to another – friends joined and left.

Saturday we took the LUAS down to Heuston Station from where we entered Phoenix Park. We enjoined watching some polo game and wandering amongst nature.

Passing by the Kilmainham Gaol and throught the Irish Museum of Modern Art we slowly approached the Guinness Storehouse from the far side. Still my favourite brewery tour. Ever. It was a little bit crowded, but hey, it was Saturday afternoon. Fair enough.

Fine Nepalese food at Monty’s was folled by a stroll around Temple Bar and the Trinity College campus. We ticked Merrion Square as well. And ended up at a five Euro cocktail bar on George Street before wrapping it up and heading home from Portobello along the Grand Canal.

Saturday’s decent walk should be evened on Sunday as we wanted to do some nice hiking along the south coast.
The DART took us down to Greystones from where we followed the snaking 8km cliff walk up to the seaside village of Bray.

Ignoring the fair in Bray we left for Dublin’s city centre and its shopping features. Once we ticked that off from our list, The Church was calling and we dutifully obeyed for precious pints and fancy food.

Excellent. The schedule was tight. But we did great. Plus it was good fun.
